How To Get (And Keep) Rock Star Project Managers
This 2-hour course is for senior leaders who work with or supervise PMs in project-focused consulting firms in engineering, architecture, design, and environmental services. PMs are in the front lines of profitability and client satisfaction, but often don’t get what they need to become true “rock star” PMs. This course covers strategies, tools, and techniques to help your PMs be effective leaders and manage projects on time and on budget. Topics include: 1) providing the right support, data, and tools, 2) increasing engagement and learning, 3) creating a culture of mentoring and accountability, and 4) developing a pipeline of future PMs. This course can be taught virtually or in-person and includes lecture and interactive class discussions.
Project Management Fundamentals For Engineers, Designers, And Environmental Professionals
This 12-hour course is for new or aspiring project managers in project-focused consulting firms in engineering, architecture, design, and environmental services. We will cover the project lifecycle – initiation/proposals, planning, execution, monitoring and controlling, and closeout – with practical tools, tips, and tricks for managing projects to successfully meet client, stakeholder, and financial objectives. Topics include budgeting, developing a scope of work, managing scope creep, scheduling, communications, quality, risk/legal, document management, and stakeholder management. Students will apply learned principles to group discussions and to plan a mock project throughout the course. This course can be taught virtually or in person.
Project Management For Non-Project Managers
This 2-hour course is for individuals who work for or support project managers in project-focused consulting firms in engineering, architecture, design, and environmental services. You will learn why the role of project manager is important, what it takes to successfully manage a project, and how you can support your project managers so you both can achieve your goals. We will discuss the project lifecycle and the different tasks, activities, and responsibilities PMs have when managing projects. This course can help you decide if becoming a project manager is right for you and what you can do to prepare for your career move into project management. This course can be taught virtually or in person.
